The Department of Extended Learning administers two different before and after school enrichment programs: Kaleidoscope Corner and Fit Fun .
Kaleidoscope Corner is a licensed before and after-school program offered at 35 elementary school sites throughout the district. The School Age program serves children five to 12 years of age, who are enrolled in Denver Public Schools. Children choose from a variety of activities including assistance with homework, science projects, arts and crafts, character building, dramatic play and recreational games. Children are served a healthy snack each day. Our Center Based program serves children between the ages of 3 and 4 and offers the same programming experience.
Fit Fun is a licensed after-school program offered at nine schools in the district. The School Age program serves children five to 12 years of age, who are enrolled in Denver Public Schools. The focus of this program is on physical fitness, nutrition, math, literacy and assistance with homework. Children are involved in creative activities and are served a healthy snack each day. Our Center Based program serves children between the ages of 3 and 4 and offers the same programming experience.
Both programs are subject to the Colorado Department of Human Services Child Care Division’s personnel licensing regulations. These requirements dictate specific educational, experience and age requirements for the positions in our before and after school programs.
